Book: Whatever Became of Jesus Christ? The Biblical Case for the Second Coming as Accomplished Fact

The purpose of this book is to give a fuller biblical explanation for the post Jesus Christ Has Already Come Again from the blog A Scriptural Guide to Jesus and His Kingdom.   If you have not already read that post, please do so before beginning this book.

The title of this book comes from the martyr Stephen’s address to the Jewish Council (or, Sanhedrin) recorded in Acts 7 and, specifically, from Acts 7:40 where he quotes Exodus 32:1 (NASB) in which the Israelites are pressing Aaron to make an idol for them (which turned out to be the golden calf).  Their justification was “…as for this Moses…we do not know what has become of him.”  This book was written so that no one might say of Jesus what they said of Moses.

When you finish this book, you will have a clear understanding of the Bible’s teaching on the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.  You will be able to give a straightforward answer to anyone who asks about it.

There is no need to wonder what became of Jesus Christ.  He is God Almighty and reigns supreme over and through all creation.  “In Him we live and move and exist” (Acts 17:28 NASB).

  1. First question:
You say that Jesus is God Almighty and then cite Acts 17:28. How is this proof Jesus is God Almighty?

Acts 17:30-31 – In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead.”

    1. I do not offer Acts 17:28 as proof that Jesus is God Almighty. Rather, I use it to describe the realm Jesus has assumed, which was promised in Acts 17:30-31. That is, God promised a day in which He would judge the world with justice by a man whom He appointed. It turned out that the man was Jesus Christ. And it turned out that this Jesus Christ was God. That’s what was demonstrated in the Second Coming, about which you are just beginning to read.

      1. It is also confirmed Jesus second coming was soon after his asending into heaven as He told them he would send them a comforter the spirit of truth Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit the comforter Him self
15“If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.” Note how the world will not see Him no more meaning ever because He is now in the spirit as this comment He made the ( world will not see me anymore,) meaning if a human body as He was

  2. You are absolutely correct about this and only God could have showed you. Because for one;Jesus himself said In a little while I go away, and in a little while I’ll come again. He was right on the money. The “little while” was exactly what he meant. He said things plain as day and yet people refuse to see it because of unbelief. John 14:16-20 explains in detail what was about to take place and what will happen when he comes again, which he did on the day of Pentecost. He comes to us all the time because his lives in US and we are seated with him in heavenly places(higher realms of the Spirit in him)! Christ in us the hope of Glory. Everyone isn’t alive yet, but everyone at some point will be alive in Christ. “In Adam all died, in Christ ALL will be made alive.”

In John 14:18 He says, ” I will not leave you comfortless:I will COME to YOU.” And he did just like he does to everyone who simply believes that he is. People are out there looking for some natural, literal event where Jesus comes hanging out on some literal clouds, calls us all home to some distant million mile away planet called heaven where God sits on a literal throne. When his throne is within us. His kingdom is within us because We are his temple, his house where he dwells. If people would get a hold of that they would surely awaken and their eyes)understanding) would be opened. It is a spiritual thing that happens on the inside of us. The clouds are US! And we will all forever be with him.

We are earth(dust of the ground) and heaven is within us(where God dwells). His righteousness, peace and joy and every good thing because of him who lives in us. God himself lives in us. People want to see naturally and the carnal mind will never see anything because it cannot. Only your understanding being enlightened by God himself will one truly see. He is the resurrection and the life. The resurrection is not an event it is PERSON. He raises the dead every day the one;s who become alive in him. Yes, he can literally raises the dead, but that does nothing. People are waiting for him to literally split the sky and come save everyone from the evil around us. But he isn’t going to do that.

People don’t like it, but everyone goes back to God. Ecclesiastes says so”The dust goes back to the earth and the spirit goes back to God who gave it.” All this other mumbo jumbo about hell was never taught by Jesus or the prophets of old or God himself. Hell means the grave. Jesus came to save ALL. God knew exactly what he was doing. He saved us from our self and we can live an abundant life in this life, not in the sweet by and by. I’m not talking about living perfect, or you’ll never have troubles. He said to choose this day life or death. One can live out this life living in the hell they created by their carnal mindset or they can live life that in the spirit that Jesus taught which was the true good news. We are forgiven, God is not mad at anyone. His judgement is grace, mercy and love not torture. Religion has distorted and told lies about God as if he is is some crazed Tyrant waiting to pounce on anyone who makes a mistake. That’s not the God I know.

Sorry so long winded. But people need to see God for who he really is. I enjoy your blog, btw

    1. First of all no one can confirm who is correct about a belief that is faith based…and that is all we have, beliefs that are based in faith ,because there is no way to prove they are true. Just because you , I or anyone else believes something does not make that something the truth. If you believe the bible is the word of God then the book of revelation itself disagrees with the teaching you agree with.It clearly defines both a first and subsequent resurrection. The first brings to life all those who will rule for a thousand years. They come to life at the same time and the rule for the same exact amount of time. These rule on/over the earth and serve as priests also. All of us today are dying not living and anyone who denies this is a liar. When we are born we are born into a death sentence and the only way we ever will live is to be born again literally from the dead …as those who are of the first resurrection. If this already happened back at Pentecost then the thousand year reign is over and the priest class failed to apply the benefits of the sacrifice to us . Have you asked yourself what would there need to be a king / priest class for . The Kingdom failed to bring about never ending peace and failed to resurrect all in the memorial tombs. It failed to buy back what the first Adam lost and replace it with what the second Adam acquired… perfection by obedience. In fact if the Messiah’s kingdom has already been here it has failed all it was set up for. What of those who are alive that are caught up to the dead that are raised first…when did that happen, surely someone would have seen it .

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. … and lastly 1 Corinthians 15 20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. 24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For he “has put everything under his feet.”[c] Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28 When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all. Remember at the time of John’s writing of Revelation the dead martyrs were still resting under the alter symbolically and had not been avenged yet…resting as in death not yet resurrected and this was after the supposed second coming. REV 6: 9 And when the Lamb opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony they had upheld. 10 And they cried out in a loud voice, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge those who live on the earth” and avenge our blood? 11 Then each of them was given a white robe and told to rest a little while longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers, were killed, just as they had been killed.…

  3. I believe you are speaking the truth about Jesus already having come the second time and that Bible prophecies have already been fulfilled… at first I was a bit reluctant because of all the prior teachings I’ve heard that contradict what you’re saying, but I’m starting to see the truth in what you write… and I want to better understand it so I can stand strong in the truth and have an answer for those who ask… especially about the “end times” and all the fear being loosed about 666, and how the world government is gonna destroy us, the end of the world, etc. I want to stand strong in the Lord ans be a beacon of hope in the midst of this crooked and perverse generation…

  4. Mary,

The key point in what you have come to learn is that our Lord is faithful! He makes promises…and He keeps them. Know that in the darkest of your days He will be with you just as He promised. God never speaks in vain; He means every word He says.

As He says in Jeremiah 1:12, He is watching over His word to perform it!

    1. amen… He is so very faithful… and I am so grateful that His Spirit really does lead us into all truth, and the truth SETS US FREE… so anything we’re hearing or believing that binds us up or causes confusion or discouragement, isn’t His truth, but some cheap imitation… thank you Lord.

  5. Peace,
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word (Jesus) and the Word (Jesus) was with God and the Word (Jesus) was God.

Revelation 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. (Jesus)

The Holy Spirit descended on Jesus as HE was coming up out of the water. When we die which is the symbol of going under the water and rising up again coming out of the water. We are born again. We die to self and live as one with Christ, Amen.

Galatians 2: 20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Let’s look at this verse. John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

And this one… 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory

Clouds is referenced as glory. Matthew 17:5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” Mark 13:26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. Clouds as we see it here is symbolic. The cloud is like a mantle a covering… Glory!!

The living words of God are spoken to us clearly. Do you believe that Jesus is God? I do.

Let’s look at this verse… John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

The Holy Spirit was sent in Jesus name. I have received HIM and I am one with HIM. Amen. I wait for no rapture. I am already one with Christ. Amen.

I would love to hear from you Brother Mike,
    In Jesus name,

  6. I’m really interested in this gospel. When my husband Ps. Fontem started preaching this, I was so skeptical about it. But the more he explained from the scripture that Jesus Christ has already come the second time, the more my faith and joy rose up in freedom. I came to the net to see if there are others who believed this gospel and lo and behold, you are here explaining it deeper. Thanks so much. One thing I love is that if we’re still waiting for Jesus coming, then WHO IS IN US? Think about it! The Church is Christ on earth today but they are waiting for Christ to come. Thanks for spreading this gospel. Keep it up. In Christ

  7. Your husband is right: we can know from the Scripture that Jesus has come again. In fact, that is the surest way of knowing that He has come again. He is faithful to His word. He cannot lie. His words cannot fail.

  8. Hi Mike

I also came to understand that Messiah already came. I also came to understand The Mystery of the Ages revealed to the Gentiles ” Christ in You” as our hope of Glory for eternity. Any thoughts please

  9. Christ is the centerpiece of all God’s work. In Him are hidden ALL the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. He who gives Christ first place in everything is on the path of understanding; every other path is a dead end.

Christ in us is all that God is in us.

    2 Corinthians 11:3
    1 John 5:12
    2 John 1:9

There is nothing more important than Christ, and there is nothing more valuable than Christ in us.

Just be sure to walk in righteousness because Christ is not a God of licentiousness (Jeremiah 7:1-15; Matthew 7:23; Jude 1:4).

  10. You said Jesus is God but who spoke from heaven in Matthew 3:17, Matthew 17:5, Mark 1:11, John 12:29-30.

These verses show there is a Superior person talking to Jesus. I think YaHWeH is differ to Jesus.

Therefore who is that person talking to Jesus.

  11. Gbenga,

When God became a man, He had to become subordinate to God. Thus He gave up His privileges as God during His time on earth. The voices from heaven to which you refer are simply part of the preparation He’d made long ahead of time – much like the many prophecies of Scripture that preceded His earthly life.

  12. Mike, let me add something here for Gbenga. There is a limit to using the bible testimonies to explain the reality of the Kingdom of Jesus in our midst. The accounts of those people before us are all subject to this reality of Jesus and of His eternal glory that He is making bear to us. Hence there is a better script which His hands had written which is super inscribed on the tablets of your heart. After all, Jesus is in you for real and it will be profitable to master this or rather get acquainted to His manifestation. I have had questions that only Jesus made it sufficiently clear to me.
