In addition to the following verses, consider also that the word “apostle,” according to the NASB Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance, means “a messenger, one sent on a mission, an apostle” [emphasis added].

Matthew 10:5  –  “These twelve Jesus sent out after instructing them…”

Matthew 10:16  –  “…I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves…”

Matthew 11:10  –  John the Baptist was sent by God.

Matthew 15:24  –  “…’I was sent only to…'”  –  Jesus was sent only to Israel proper.

Matthew 23:37  –  “”Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her…”

Mark 1:2-3  –  John the Baptist was sent by God.

John 5:38  –  “…for you do not believe Him whom He sent.”

John 6:29  –  “…’…that you believe in Him whom He has sent.'”

John 7:18  –  “…seeking the glory of the One who sent Him…”

John 8:29  –  “And He who sent Me is with Me…”

John 12:44  –  “…’He who believes in Me, does not believe in Me but in Him who sent Me.'”
John 12:45  –  “He who sees Me sees the One who sent Me.”

John 12:49  –  “For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak.”

Isaiah 6:8  –  “Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!'”

Isaiah 55:11  –  “So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth…without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”

Zechariah 7:12  –  “…so that they could not hear the law and the words which the Lord of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets…”
