We are to honor God above all, but we are to honor others also.

True honor is more than lip service.

We are able to honor God; He is able to honor us.


Matthew 15:5-6  –  “…not to honor his father or his mother…”

John 5:22, 23  –  “…so that all will honor the Son even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.”

Romans 1:21  –  “…they did not honor Him as God or give thanks…”  –  Compare with Revelation 4:9 below.

Romans 2:9, 10  –  “…but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good…”

Romans 13:7  –  “Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.”

1 Timothy 5:17, 18  –  “The elders who rule well are to be considered worthy of double honor…”

1 Peter 2:17  –  “Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.”

Revelation 4:9  –  “…give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne…”  –  Compare with Romans 1:21 above.


Exodus 20:12  –  “Honor your father and your mother…”

Numbers 22:37  –  “…Am I really unable to honor you?”

Deuteronomy 28:28-59  –  “…to fear this honored and awesome name, the Lord your God…”

1 Samuel 2:30  –  “…for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me will be lightly esteemed.”

Psalm 15:4  –  “In whose eyes a reprobate is despised, but who honors those who fear the Lord…”

Psalm 50:15  –  “…and you will honor Me.”
Psalm 50:23  –  “He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors Me…”

Proverbs 3:9, 10  –  “Honor the Lord from your wealth…”

Proverbs 15:33  –  “…before honor comes humility.”

Proverbs 22:4  –  “The reward of humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, honor and life.”

Malachi 1:6  –  “‘A son honors his father, and a servant his master. Then if I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is My respect?’ says the Lord of hosts…”

Malachi 2:1-2  –  “‘And now this commandment is for you, O priests.  If you do not listen, and if you do not take it to heart to give honor to My name,’ says the Lord of hosts…”
