Purity of Heart

Matthew 5:8  –  “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”

*John 1:47  –  “…’Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!'”

*2 Corinthians 10:5, 6  –  “We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.”  –  Note that “every” and “all” speak to a purified heart.  Also, this “obedience” of which Paul speaks is of and from the heart (“you became obedient from the heart” – Romans 6:17).  Therefore, Paul aims for a purification of the hearts of his disciples.  No leaven allowed (1 Corinthians 5:6; Galatians 5:9).

1 John 3:2, 3  –  “…everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.”
