The Generosity of God

Matthew 6:1  –  “Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.”  –  View this verse in the light of Hebrews 11:6 below.

Matthew 7:11  –  “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give…”

Luke 11:13  –  “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give…”

Luke 18:7  –  “…and will He delay long over them?”  –  See note on Proverbs 3:27-28 below.

John 1:16  –  “…of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.” –  As to His “fullness,” consider Colossians 2:3 (“…in whom are hidden all the treasures…”).

Romans 8:32  –  “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?”

Romans 10:12-13  –  “…the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call upon Him…

Ephesians 1:7-8  –  “…according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on us…”

Ephesians 2:7  –  “so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”

Ephesians 3:8  –  “…the unfathomable riches of Christ,”

Ephesians 3:16  –  “that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory…”

Hebrews 4:16  –  “…so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

Hebrews 11:6  –  “…and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”  –  View this verse in the light of Matthew 6:1 above.

James 1:5  –  “…God, who gives to all generously…”

Psalm 31:19  –  “How great is Your goodness,
Which You have stored up for those who fear You…”

Psalm 84:11  –  “…No good thing does He withhold…”

Proverbs 3:27-28  –  “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
when it is in your power to do it.  Do not say to your neighbor, ‘Go, and come back,
And tomorrow I will give it,’ when you have it with you.”  –  If God commands us in this way, does it not describe His own way of doing things?  See Luke 18:7 above.  And as for “when it is in your power to do it,” remember Matthew 13:58 and Mark 6:5.
