It is understatement to say that the New Testament takes a very positive view of truth and a very negative view of any alternative to it.  The apostles did not regard truth lightly.  On the contrary,

The New Testament makes truth its centerpiece – simultaneously classifying its own message as the most important and relevant truth of all.

Luke 1:1-4

John 3:21  –  “But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”

John 4:23, 24  –  “But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.  God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

John 8:44  –  “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

John 18:38  –  “What is truth?”  –  Herod’s view is very consistent with the spirit of our age but it is utterly inconsistent with the view put forth by the Bible.

Romans 1:18  –  “men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness”  –  Paul is negative about the truth being suppressed.

Romans 1:25  –  “they exchanged the truth of God for a lie”  –  To reject the truth is to accept a lie.

2 Corinthians 13:8  –  “For we can do nothing against the truth, but only for the truth.”

Galatians 2:5  –  But we did not yield in subjection to them for even an hour, so that the truth of the gospel would remain with you.

1 Timothy 3:15  –  “the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.”

Hebrews 10:26

James 3:14  –  “do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth.”

James 5:19, 20  –  “if any among you strays from the truth

1 Peter 1:22  –  “Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart,”

2 Peter 2:2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned;
