It is understatement to say that the New Testament takes a very positive view of truth and a very negative view of any alternative to it. The apostles did not regard truth lightly. On the contrary,
The New Testament makes truth its centerpiece – simultaneously classifying its own message as the most important and relevant truth of all.
John 3:21 – “But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”
John 4:23, 24 – “But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
John 8:44 – “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
John 18:38 – “What is truth?” – Herod’s view is very consistent with the spirit of our age but it is utterly inconsistent with the view put forth by the Bible.
Romans 1:18 – “men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness” – Paul is negative about the truth being suppressed.
Romans 1:25 – “they exchanged the truth of God for a lie” – To reject the truth is to accept a lie.
2 Corinthians 13:8 – “For we can do nothing against the truth, but only for the truth.”
Galatians 2:5 – But we did not yield in subjection to them for even an hour, so that the truth of the gospel would remain with you.
1 Timothy 3:15 – “the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.”
James 3:14 – “do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth.”
James 5:19, 20 – “if any among you strays from the truth”
1 Peter 1:22 – “Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart,”
2 Peter 2:2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned;
