Jesus Christ Came in the Flesh

This is a subsidiary post of Flesh.

Jesus Christ came in the flesh.  We could also say Jesus Christ came the first time in the flesh and the second time in the spirit.

John 1:14  –  “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us”

Romans 1:3  –  “born of a descendant of David according to the flesh

Romans 8:3  –  “sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh”  –  Yet He Himself did not sin, as it says in Hebrews 4:15 below and elsewhere in the Scriptures such as 2 Corinthians 5:21 and 1 Peter 1:19; 2:22.

Romans 9:5  –  “from whom is the Christ according to the flesh

2 Corinthians 5:16  –  “we have known Christ according to the flesh

Galatians 4:4  –  “born of a woman”  –  Whatever is “born of a woman” is of the flesh.

Philippians 2:7  –  “being made in the likeness of men”  –  To be “in the likeness of men” is to be “in the flesh.”

1 Timothy 3:16  –  “He who was revealed in the flesh

2 Timothy 2:8  –  “descendant of David”  –  David was “of the flesh” and so also was his descendant.

Hebrews 2:17  –  “He had to be made like His brethren in all things”  –  That is, He was made a human being – of the flesh – like us.

Hebrews 4:15  –  “who has been tempted in all things as we are”  –  That is, He was tempted as a human being,  susceptible to the lusts of the flesh.  We see examples of these very temptations in Matthew 4:1-11 and Luke 4:1-13.

Hebrews 5:7  –  “In the days of His flesh

1 Peter 3:18  –  “having been put to death in the flesh

1 John 4:2  –  “Jesus Christ has come in the flesh

2 John 1:7  –  “acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh
