Mark 10:35-40  –  “…’Grant that we may sit, one on Your right and one on Your left, in Your glory‘…”  –  James and John did not know what they were asking.  They did not realize that the Lord had much more to give them than this (2 Chronicles 25:9) because He is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we can ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).  These brothers had their minds on earthly glory but Jesus was teaching them to appreciate the glory that was infinitely greater:  heavenly glory.

Luke 24:26  –  “…to suffer these things and to enter into His glory?”

John 1:14  –  “…and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father…”

John 7:39  –  “…because Jesus was not yet glorified.”  –  This is referring to the time before Jesus was crucified.

John 8:54  –  “Jesus answered, ‘If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; it is My Father who glorifies Me…'”

John 12:23  –  “…’The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.'”

John 12:41  –  “These things Isaiah said because he saw His glory…”

John 16:14  –  “He will glorify Me…”

John 17:24  –  “Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me…”

Acts 1:3 – “To these He also presented Himself alive after His suffering…”  –  The phrase “after His suffering” alludes to the time of His glory (see Luke 24:26 above and 1 Peter 1:11, 21 below).

Acts 3:13  –  “The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus…”

Romans 8:18  –  “…the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”

1 Corinthians 2:8  –  “…the Lord of glory;”  –  See notes on Psalm 24 below.

2 Corinthians 3:18  –  “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory…”

Philippians 3:3  –  “…and glory in Christ Jesus…”

Colossians 3:4  –  “When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.”

2 Thessalonians 1:9  –  “…away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,”
2 Thessalonians 1:10  –  “when He comes to glorified in His saints on that day…”

2 Timothy 4:18  –  “…to Him be the glory forever and ever…”

1 Peter 1:6, 7, 8, 9

1 Peter 1:11  –  “…the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.”

1 Peter 1:21  –  “…raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory…”


Psalm 24:7, 8, 9, 10  –  “…the king of glory…”  –  This phrase appears five times in these four verses.  The mention of “glory” evokes Jesus’ resurrection to the right hand of God (Luke 24:26; 1 Peter 1:11, 21).  Compare this to Isaiah 11:10 below.

Isaiah 6:3  –  “…the whole earth is full of His glory.”

Isaiah 11:10  –  “Then in that day the nations will resort to the root of Jesse, who will stand as a signal for the peoples; and His resting place will be glorious.”  –  Compare the reference to this “glorious“resting place to the note on Psalm 24:7-10 above.

Isaiah 22:24  –  “So they will hang on him all the glory of his father’s house…”  –  Fulfilled as expressed in Matthew 16:27; Mark 8:38; and Luke 9:26, all above.

Isaiah 40:5  –  “Then the glory of the LORD will be revealed…”

Isaiah 55:4, 5  –  “…for He has glorified you.”

Isaiah 58:8  –  “…the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.”

Isaiah 60:1, 2, 3  –  “…and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you…and His glory will appear upon you…”

Daniel 5:23  –  “…But the God in whose hand are your life-breath and all your ways, you have not glorified.”
