Where Is Your Hope?

This is a subsidiary post of Hope.

The Bible speaks of “fixing our hope on…” and “setting our hope on…”  Where then is that hope to be fixed or set?

John 5:45  –  “Moses, in whom you have set your hope”  –  The Jewish leaders had set their hope on Moses but had not believed him.

2 Corinthians 1:9, 10  –  “[God who raises the dead] on whom we have set our hope”

1 Thessalonians 1:3  –  “steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ”

1 Timothy 1:1  – “Christ Jesus, who is our hope”

1 Timothy 4:10  –  “we have fixed our hope on the living God”

1 Timothy 5:5  –  “has fixed her hope on God”

1 Timothy 6:17  –  “not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy”  –  Compare with Psalm 62:10.

Hebrews 6:17, 18  –  “to take hold of the hope set before us”  –  God Himself has set the hope before that He wants us to pursue and grasp.

1 Peter 1:13  –  “fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ”

1 John 3:2, 3  –  “everyone who has this hope fixed on Him”


Psalm 130: 5  –  “in His word do I hope”

Psalm 130:7  –  “O Israel, hope in the LORD”

Psalm 131:3  –  “O Israel, hope in the LORD”
