“Flesh” refers to the physical dimension of creation: that which can be experienced with the five physical senses.  “Spirit” refers to the invisible dimension of creation.

As Paul says, “Do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit” (Romans 8:4).

Matthew 3:8, 9Therefore bear fruit in keeping with repentance; and do not suppose that you can say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham for our father'; for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children to Abraham.
