Not only is it important for us to be able to separate that which we know from that which we don’t know, it’s also important for us to separate that which we know from that which we know with certainty.
In other words, there is that which you know…and that which you know that you know. The former has to do with hope; the latter has to do with faith.
An asterisk at the beginning of the citation indicates usage of terms other than “know” or “certain.”
Luke 1:18 – “Zacharias said to the angel, ‘How will I know this for certain?..'”
Acts 2:36 – “let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ…” – Note that Peter wants his listeners not merely to know, but to know with certainty what he is declaring to them.
Acts 22:30 – “…wishing to know for certain why he had been accused by the Jews…”
*Romans 14:14 – “I know and am convinced…”
*1 Corinthians 8:2 – “If anyone supposes that he knows anything, he has not yet known as he ought to know

*Hebrews 12:28 – “…we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken…” – Therefore, we should be a people who cannot be shaken (Unshaken).

Genesis 15:13 – “God said to Abram, ‘Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs…'”
Joshua 23:12, 13 – “For if you ever go back and cling to the rest of these nations, these which remain among you, and intermarry with them, so that you associate with them and they with you, know with certainty that the LORD your God will not continue to drive these nations out from before you…”
