The Lord Pays Extra Attention to Those Who Love Him

This is a subsidiary post of The Face and Eyes of the Lord – Christ Sees Us, He Knows Us.

It is also a subsidiary post of Righteousness, because we could just as easily have said “The Lord Pays Extra Attention to the Righteous.”
It is also a subsidiary post of Attention.

This is the knowledge that speaks of intimacy.

Matthew 7:23 (quoting Psalm 6:8)  –  “I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.”

1 Corinthians 8:3  –  “but if anyone loves God, he is known by Him

Galatians 4:9  –  “But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God

2 Timothy 2:19  –  “The Lord knows those who are His”

Hebrews 10:38 (quoting Habakkuk 2:4)  –  Although no explicit mention of the Lord “watching” is made in this verse, it is obviously being assumed, for only if the Lord knows what’s going on can He derive pleasure from “the righteous one living by faith.”  Truly, His eyes are constantly scanning the creation to see who give their whole heart to Him (2 Chronicles 16:9).

1 Peter 3:12 (quoting Psalm 34:15, 16 below)  –  “‘FOR THE EYES OF THE LORD ARE TOWARD THE RIGHTEOUS,


Numbers 6:25  –  “The LORD make His face shine on you”
Numbers 6:26  –  “The LORD lift up His countenance on you”

2 Chronicles 16:9  – “For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His”

Psalm 33:18, 19  –  “the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, On those who hope for His lovingkindness To deliver their soul from death And to keep them alive in famine”

Psalm 34:15 (quoted in 1 Peter 3:12 above) –  “The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous”
Psalm 34:16 (quoted in 1 Peter 3:12 above)  –  “The face of the LORD is against evildoers, To cut off the memory of them from the earth”

Psalm 139:23  –  “Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
Psalm 139:24  –  “And see if there be any hurtful way in me,
And lead me in the everlasting way.”

Isaiah 66:2 –  “But to this one I will look”

Zechariah 2:8  –  “he who touches you, touches the apple of His eye
