Quietness of heart (peace of mind) can be brought about by strengthening the soul.

“Peace and quiet” mark the Christian soul, and provide the best means of continuing to hear the voice of the Lord.

Some of the verses below speak explicitly of “quietness” or “peace” but many speak of these things implicitly.

Matthew 6:27

Matthew 11:29 (quoting Jeremiah 6:16 below)

Luke 18:1  –  “at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart

John 14:1  –  “Do not let your heart be troubled

John 14:27  –  “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”

Romans 1:7  –  “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.  –  There are, of course, many such expressions of peace in the New Testament epistles.

Romans 2:9, 10  –  “tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil…but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good”

Romans 5:1  –  “we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”

Romans 12:18  –  “be at peace with all men”  –  This is technically not peace of heart, but the two are related.

1 Corinthians 14:33  –  “for God is not a God of confusion but of peace

2 Corinthians 4:8  –  “perplexed, but not despairing

Galatians 4:15  –  “Where then is that sense of blessing you had?”

Galatians 6:9  –  “Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.”

1 Timothy 6:6  –  “when accompanied by contentment

Hebrews 12:14  –  “pursue peace with all men”

Hebrews 13:9  –  “it is good for the hear to be strengthened by grace”  –  See Nourishment of the Heart because a peaceful and quiet heart does not fall naturally to us in this world.
