Lamb

Jesus is “the lamb of God.”  Scriptural references to a “lamb” in the Old Testament foreshadow Him.  For example, see the lamb to replace Isaac in Genesis 22 and the Passover lamb in Exodus 12.

*Matthew 11:29  –  “I am gentle and humble in heart”

John 1:29  –  “…’Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!'”

John 1:36  –  “…’Behold, the Lamb of God!'”

Acts 8:32 (quoting Isaiah 53:7 below)  –  “…’HE WAS LED AS A SHEEP TO SLAUGHTER; AND AS A LAMB BEFORE ITS SHEARER IS SILENT, SO HE DOES NOT OPEN HIS MOUTH.'”

*1 Corinthians 5:7  –  “…For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.”  –  Christ is, of course, the Passover lamb.

*2 Corinthians 10:1  –  “…the meekness and gentleness of Christ…”

1 Peter 1:18, 19  –  “…a lamb unblemished and spotless…”

Revelation 5:12 –  “…’Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.'”

Revelation 17:14  –  “These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings…”

In all, there are 30 verses in the book of Revelation that speak of this “Lamb.”

Genesis 22:7  –  “…’…but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?'”
Genesis 22:8  –  “…’God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering…'”

Exodus 12:5  –  “Your lamb shall be an unblemished male a year old…”

Exodus 12:21  –  “…and slay the Passover lamb.”

Isaiah 53:7 (quoted in Acts 8:32 above) – “…Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, and like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, so He did not open His mouth.”

Jeremiah 11:19  –  “But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter…”
