From One Way of Living to Another

This chart (or table) contrasts the way we begin our walk with God (i.e. sinners, as identified in Luke 5:32) with the way we end up once we’ve matured in our walk with Him (i.e. conformed to His image, as anticipated in Luke 6:40).

A different chart – The Progression of Our Course – includes both these beginning and ending points but also includes a column which speaks to the process (progression or course) involved in getting from the one state to the other.  Verses that speak to this process are included there.

Where a verse or passage mentions only the end state (i.e., the “after” of the “before and after” framework, as in 2 Corinthians 5:21) or only the reversal of the beginning state (i.e. the “before” of the “before and after” framework, as in Acts 3:26), I have listed them in The Goal of Our Course.

Another way of thinking about this idea of going from one way of life to another is to think about going from a life focused on the flesh to a life focused on the spirit.  A table of Bible verses to help you think more about this is Flesh Versus Spirit.

This table shows the similarity of thinking in various New Testament verses regarding the old way of life being abandoned and the new way of life being adopted by believers in Christ. Thus it is a chart of "the before and after" of the life that pursues Christ to the end.
