Luke 6:46  –  “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”  –  This rhetorical question implies that doing the word is the appropriate response to hearing the word.

Luke 8:21  –  “My mother and brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.”

Luke 11:28  –  “blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.”

John 2:5  –  “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

John 13:17  –  “If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.”


1 Kings 18:36  –  “I have done all these things at Your word”  –  Elijah is making the claim: “I did what I heard.”

Ezra 7:10  –  “had set his heart to study the law of the LORD and to practice it”  –  Ezra adds the third element, but the first two match the “hear and do” paradigm we have in the verses above.
