Upon hearing the testimony and teaching of the apostles (which is the New Testament), a person will accept as true – or reject as false – what he has heard.  In that choice, the course of our lives is determined.  That is, it is our response to apostolic testimony which makes all the difference.

Satan’s work is to get us to doubt that testimony, for it has within it the saving power of God against which he is helpless.  Therefore, since we accept this testimony let us hold to it tightly and not tentatively.  Let us also hold to it completely and not partially.

Eve did not have access to written documents through which she could strengthen her faith in what the Lord had said.  Therefore, God has a right to expect more from us in our hour of temptation.  Let us not doubt Him.  Let us strengthen our remembrance of His word to us…for that will make all the difference.
