Before Me

This is a subsidiary post of Various Biblical Terms That Describe the Posture of Faith.

There is a subtle distinction between “before me” (this post) and “before Him.”  The former refers to what I can see; the latter refers to what He can see.

That “before someone” = “in someone’s sight” is a reasonable inference, but it is confirmed by the NASB marginal note on Luke 15:18 which gives “before you” as an alternate translation for “in your sight.”

Psalm 16:8  –  “I have set the Lord continually before me
