This is a subsidiary post to Against Faith.
Faith in God is mutually exclusive with the fear of man. We see this truth in the Bible passages below.
Faith in God must therefore displace the fear of man in our hearts. This is how we grow faith.
John 5:43 – Jesus is implying that it is impossible to believe if we are seeking glory from men. Only if we are seeking glory from God can we believe.
Galatians 1:10 – Since faith is necessary to please God (Hebrews 116), we can see that faith in God instead of men goes with pleasing God instead of men. Paul echoes this theme in Ephesians 6:5, 6, and again in Colossians 3:22, 23, 24.
Jeremiah 17:5-8 – Jeremiah describes two ways of living: trusting in the Lord (Jeremiah 17:7) versus trusting in man (Jeremiah 17:5).
