Faith Is Foundational to the Christian Life

This is a subsidiary post to Faith.

Faith is foundational to our walk with God.  It is not optional.  Faith is the way we walk with God – the way we obey Him (see Faith Is Righteousness).

Romans 14:23  –  “…whatever is not from faith is sin.”  –  This makes faith foundational to life with God.

Hebrews 3:12  –  “Take care…that there not be in…you an evil, unbelieving heart…”  –  If an unbelieving heart is “evil,” then only a believing heart can be good.

Hebrews 10:38  –  The Lord has no pleasure in the one who shrinks back from walking in faith.

Hebrews 11:6  –  Amplifying the thought just expressed in Hebrews 10:38, this text is stating emphatically that “without faith it is impossible to please God” [emphasis added].  That’s foundational!

Jude 1:3, 20  –  The faith was “once for all handed down” and since that faith is in Christ, it is a foundation upon which we can “build ourselves up.”
