Scripture

This is a subsidiary post of What Did We Inherit from the Prior Age?

You will not find the word “Bible” in the Bible, but you will find the word “Scripture” which means the same thing.  That is, “Scripture” or “Scriptures” are terms synonymous with “Bible.”

Luke 4:21  –  “…’Today this Scripture has been fulfilled…”

John 10:35  –  “If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),”

Acts 8:35  –  “…and beginning from this Scripture he…”

Acts 17:2  –  “…reasoned with them from the Scriptures,”

Acts 18:24  –  “…and he was mighty in the Scriptures.”

Acts 18:28  –  “…demonstrating by the Scriptures that…”

Romans 1:2  –  “…in the holy Scriptures,”

Romans 15:4  –  The Bible has been given so that we might find in its pages the encouragement to persevere in our walk with Christ.  This encouragement, of course, takes the form of instruction.  That is, it speaks to those of us who have assumed the posture of disciples – those willing and interested in being instructed.

Romans 16:26  –  “…and by the Scriptures of the prophets…”

1 Corinthians 15:3  –  “…according to the Scriptures,”
1 Corinthians 15:4  –  “…according to the Scriptures,”

2 Timothy 3:16-17  –  “All Scripture is inspired by God and…”

2 Peter 1:20-21  –  “…no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation,”
