Thinking About the People God Wants for Himself

This is a subsidiary post of The People of God.

What kind of people does God want for Himself?
What kind of people does God want for His name?

Matthew 1:21  –  The Lord Himself works redemption in the lives of these people who have attached themselves to Him (see Titus 2:11-14 below).

Matthew 5:6  –  These are a people who have an appetite for righteousness.

Matthew 21:43  –  Will God not reject a people who call on His name falsely?  And will He not take in their place a people worthy of His name?  And is this not just what is portrayed in the story of Ahasuerus, Vashti, and Esther?

Acts 15:14  –  Does God not want a people for His name?

2 Timothy 2:19  –  The people of God do not have to identify themselves to Him…for He knows them by name.  Neither do they parake of wickedness, for they wish to never displease Him.

Titus 2:11-14  –  Does God not purify His people for Himself?  (In Matthew 1:21 above, the purifier is named.)

Hebrews 1:9  –  Like their leader before them, the people of God love righteousness and hate lawlessness.

Hebrews 11:25  –  Wouldn’t God’s people rather suffer mistreatment because of their association with Him rather than indulge themselves in pleasure that could dishonor His name?

1 Peter 2:9, 10  –  These are a people who delight to proclaim His character.

2 Peter 3:11  –  What sort of people then ought the people of God to be?
