The scripture references below go with today’s post of A Nonchurchgoer’s Guide to Jesus and His Kingdom.
Luke 14:25-35 (You could call this passage “Jesus’ count-the-cost speech.” After reading this, no one could accuse Jesus of soft pedaling the difficulties of following Him.)
Ruth 1:1-18 (This story will help frame your choice. Note that it wasn’t that Orpah did wrong while Ruth did right. Orpah was in no way criticized for her choice. Both Orpah and Ruth were free. Ruth chose to be bound to Naomi. In such a case, God can commend Ruth without condemning Orpah.)
Joshua 24:15 (The choice is yours.)
