Bible Notes on “Being Holy Is Separation to the Lord, Not to Each Other”

The scripture references below go with today’s post of A Nonchurchgoer’s Guide to Jesus and His Kingdom.

1 Peter 1:14-16  (Note that the Lord is saying that His holiness is the source of our holiness.)

2 Timothy 2:20-21  (The word “sanctified” in this passage comes from the same Greek root from which we get our word “holy.”  Thus to be holy is to be sanctified, and vice versa.)

Romans 8:28  (Note that things are working together for good when we are 1) loving God and 2) pursuing His purpose, not our own.  Some people want to say all things are working together for good while ignoring those two conditions.  Things are not working together for good to those who are sinning.  Therefore, stop sinning and do the will of God.)

If you are familiar with the Bible, or if you want to hear more from it, you may want to read one of my other blogs: A Bible Reader’s Guide to Jesus and His Kingdom.

Any quotations of Scripture are taken from the NASB, unless otherwise noted.
