Bible Notes on “The Church Adds Its Ideas to God’s Ideas”

Matthew 16:1-12 (Leaven is an ingredient added to bread dough that makes the resulting loaf larger.  Once the leaven is mixed in and the bread is baked, it’s impossible to remove the leaven from the loaf.  Like the Pharisees, today’s churches mix in their ideas with God’s and feed people the resulting loaves.  This creates a hardship for people: they either consume the false teaching along with the true, or starve because they reject it all.  This is why God is so upset with religious leaders.  Let us, however, seek to eat only the unleavened bread of truth.)
